As the Asset Texture and Look Development Supervisor, one of my responsibilities was to maintain, update and improve our high resolution hero digital extras library. This included establishing workflows, presets, templates, UV standards, textures and shaders across multiple applications for clothing, groom, skin and eye setups for my team, while also building and maintaining the final Hero Houdini HDAs for variant switching, providing hundreds of variations. The digital extras were used in both film and episodic projects, adjusted according to show needs for time period, age, gender, race etc. to blend seamlessly in shot close to camera with real actors on set. The example renders you see here are just a fraction of what we built: these are our modern day extras- each row shown with identical human facial features and underbody with variations on skin tone, eye color, groom and clothing. All final look development was done in Houdini Renderman. |
